Incorporated in 1974 the, Yukon Amateur Softball Association, also known as Softball Yukon, is the recognized Sport Governing Body for Fast Pitch (including orthodox) and Slo-Pitch Softball within the Yukon Territory.

 

Softball Yukon is a member of Softball Canada, Slo-Pitch National and the Western Canadian Softball Association.

 

The mission of the Association is to promote and develop softball at all levels, by providing leadership, programs and services to meet the needs of all participants, thus enhancing the profile of Softball in the Yukon.

 

Softball Yukon is a non-government, non-profit organization. Its office is located in the Sport Yukon building at 4061 fourth avenue in the City of Whitehorse. The programs of Softball Yukon are financed through contributions from the Yukon Recreation Advisory Committee, private sector sponsorship, membership fees and a very aggressive fund raising program.

 

The Association’s Board consists of men and women who volunteer their time and skills in the interest of softball. Six elected members represent the interest of the members of the Association. The elected members provide direction, guidance and support for the programs of the Association. A permanent staff of two and a part time staff of five are employed at the Association Office and the Pepsi Softball Centre to administer the policies and programs of the Association.

 

Membership in the Association is open to all softball leagues and Associations as approved by the Directors of the Association. All affiliated players, coaches, managers, umpires, league officials and other interested persons (as approved by the Board) are considered members of softball Yukon whether they be voting or non-voting members. Membership is for the current year only from May1 to April 30 of the following year)
